e-Learning and Blackboard

e-Learning courses at Prince George's Community College are taught in a variety of ways.

Online
Students enrolled in online courses meet with their professors and fellow students in a virtual (online) classroom. Using a computer at home or at work, students log in to class to receive course information, view course content, submit assignments, and have discussions with their instructor and classmates. While some online courses require students to come to campus to take exams, the majority of coursework is completed online.

Hybrid/Online
A Hybrid/Online course combines classroom meetings and online instruction. Students enrolled in a Hybrid/Online course complete some of their coursework online and they also come to campus at scheduled times to meet face-to-face with their professor and fellow students.

Video Enhanced Online
Video Enhanced Online courses combine online instruction with a video component. Students enrolled in a Video Enhanced Online course meet with their professor and fellow students in a virtual (online) classroom. Depending on the course, the video component can be viewed on the college cable station, accessed via DVD through check-out in the PGCC library or purchased in the college bookstore. Other coursework (assignments, discussion, group work, etc.)is accomplished through the Internet.

Accelerated Online
Accelerated Online courses are full semester online courses that are taught in a condensed format which is typically 8 weeks or 10 weeks long. The start and/or end dates differ from the regular semester start and end dates.

Before taking an e-Learning course it's a good idea to go the e-Learning orientation. These are held at the main campus in Largo or there is an online site located at:
